Realistic Bird Call Whistles by ACME Whistles

Any field sports enthusiast knows the value of a realistic and reliable bird call. These whistles are a niche product that ACME has specialised in for decades, becoming a leading designer and manufacturer of bird calls, crow calls, duck calls, pigeon calls, and other associated equipment such as harking horns in the UK.

Our whistles are also used in orchestral arrangements and to produce realistic sound effects for TV and cinema. Moire generally, they are features of British country lifestyle, and our carefully crafted range is much-loved by professionals and amateur twitchers alike.

There is a knack to getting the most realistic bird sounds out of these whistles. It’s easy once you’ve had some practice - you’ll be making reliable and realistic bird calls in no time. Our bird call whistles are designed for ease of use and consistency, so you can be confident that you’ll have a great piece of kit on hand during your next outing.

Duck calls

Our iconic Acme duck calls have a claim to fame; they were used in a Kit-Kat advert in the 90s! Choose from the classic wooden ACME duck call 570 that produces a wide range of high and low pitched calls, from the lower notes of the drake to the higher tone of the hen. A fully adjustable reed makes it easy to replicate all the standard mallard calls, so you’ll be able to copy all the calls you need with a bit of practice.

Perfect for use in wet conditions in the field, our 574 duck call with a rubber grip is easy to handle and produces realistic high and low pitched duck calls. The 572 duck call is a slimmed-down version which is more compact but still produces all the natural duck calls you will ever need for hunting and bird watching.

Crow calls

Faithfully reproducing the distinct call of a crow is tough, but we have managed it beautifully with the ACME crow call 259. The rasping sound of an old crow is produced by maintaining a fairly relaxed mouth position, but you can raise the pitch by biting a little harder on the mouthpiece to mimic the higher notes of a younger bird.

Pigeon calls

From haunting laments to bright calls, this bird call whistle has many applications. It might be called the pigeon call 500, but it’s much more than that. This versatile bird call can simulate the call of woodpigeon, turtle dove, white-winged dove, and Eurasian collared dove. Perhaps you’ll be surprised to learn that it can also reproduce the familiar cry of the little owl!

Other bird calls

Popular for musical uses, the ACME cuckoo call produces a faithful piping tone perfect for orchestras as well as birdwatchers. A high trill, the ACME skylark 254 creates a pure, variable sound that trills and cascades just like the real thing - an instant reminder of beautiful British summers. We proudly make other bird calls in the UK, including our curlew call, which perfectly mimics this treasured bird of the British coast. The nightingale call 499 is another favourite, mimicking the beautiful song of our native nightingale.

Unlike other whistles in this category, our quail call 281 is operated by hand rather than breath. It realistically produces the piping sound of the quail but can also be used to replicate the stone chipping sound made by stoats.

Whichever ACME bird call whistle you choose, you can be assured that they have been thoroughly tested for quality before leaving our workshop, and each one proudly bears our name.
