ACME Whistles: Leading the way in whistle manufacturing

It is a sad fact that, due to many socioeconomic factors, the manufacturing sector in the UK is no longer the global powerhouse it once was. As a nation we are simply making less ‘stuff’ than in previous years, instead relying on imports to meet our needs.
It’s true that making things overseas and importing them to our shores can be a money saving exercise, but it often comes with a decrease in the quality of the goods.
At ACME Whistles we are dedicated to manufacturing a superior product that is unmatched by cheap imports, and once you have used one of our beautifully crafted whistles you will understand why. Our reputation for quality has stayed with us for over 150 years, and to this day we still use time-honoured techniques and trusted tools to manufacture our whistles.
We know that the only way to make whistles to an exacting standard is to have skilled and experienced technicians involved in every part of the process. As such, our whistles are largely hand-tooled and each is visually inspected and then tested before being allowed to leave our workshop. It’s only by taking this level of care and attention that the quality of a whistle can be guaranteed.

The ACME Whistles Hall of Fame
The ACME Whistles range has spanned hundreds of unique designs over the years, though changes in demand have allowed us to develop a core range of 80+ whistles that cover every need. The whistles you can buy today represent many world firsts which are completely unique in their origin.
The Boatswain's call whistle was improved in 1870 and to this day is used ceremonially and practically aboard military and civilian vessels all over the world. This iconic piping whistle produces a sound like no other and sounds beautiful when skillfully handled.
A more widespread favourite is the Thunderer which was the world’s first sports whistle. Since its development in the late 1880s it has become ubiquitous in sporting competitions of all kinds including the FIFA World Cup and international netball competitions. This is arguably our most versatile and in demand whistle.
ACME Whistles also produced the world’s first ‘silent’ dog whistle in the 1930s which is still made using the same techniques today. It is an essential bit of kit for dog owners who need a reliable and attention grabbing means of communication with their dog.
