Our most popular whistles
There are many different types of whistle in our collection and some are general purpose while others have more niche uses. For example, the ACME Thunderer is perhaps the most popular whistle we make and is perfect for all kinds of applications. It is used frequently in sporting events, by teachers, in the military, and by anyone in need of a whistle with a rich, variable, trilling call.
The Thunderer comes in a range of specifications, some with deeper tones and some with lighter tones. An engraved whistle from the Thunderer line is a great option for anyone who could do with a personalised whistle, and they can be finished with a name, date, or personal message.
Incredibly popular but a little more niche are our dog training whistles. Like the Thunderer they come in several different specifications, though all of them are designed to make your dog training efforts easier and to help build trusting relationships between dog and owner. They are popular gifts for dog lovers, and have also been purchased on a wholesale basis by training schools as gifts for their students.
The range of specifications makes these a great personalised whistle choice, and several - including our iconic ‘silent’ dog whistle, our sheepdog whistle in metal, and our luxury Prestige range of dog whistles - can all be engraved for a personal touch. Another of our popular whistle models is the Metropolitan whistle. This is one of our oldest designs, and there is a lot of history behind its development. Named after the police service it was originally produced for, the Metropolitan police whistle was developed in the late 1800s to aid the relatively new service as it worked to tackle crime in Victorian London. This particular model of whistle also found heavy use throughout WWI, where it earned the nickname ‘trench whistle’.
Engraving and personalising whistles
Our engraving service is the perfect way to make an unexpected and delightful gift even better. The text you decide to have engraved onto your chosen whistle depends on the occasion and the recipient. Popular options for personal gifts include having a name or initials engraved onto the body of the whistle, marking the whistles with a special date such as a retirement date or anniversary, or including a short, personal message. For corporate personalised whistles, we can apply your company’s name or a motto - anything up to 25 characters.
