ACME ALPHA: A true innovation in dog training whistles

ACME Whistles has a pedigree that can be traced back to 1935 when it comes to dog whistles. Today we are extremely proud to launch another world first: a reinvented take on our classic dog whistle called the ALPHA. The ALPHA is a new evolution in dog whistles which gives dog trainers and owners better control over longer distances.
We are dedicated to supporting dog owners across the country with our innovative, world-leading whistles and have worked closely with the UK’s best dog
trainers, including Ben Randall, to bring you a truly special dog training tool. The ACME ALPHA is 8% louder and delivers a clean, crisp sound which has expanded the sound range by 17% when compared to our original design.
We have demonstrated through rigorous testing and field trials that dogs can respond to the ALPHA’s call from distances of over 485 metres. To guarantee this result, the ALPHA has been four years in the making and has gone through 47 iterations to push the boundaries of what is possible while testing this invention to its limits.

“The frequency is now concentrated in the dog’s middle octave hearing range which means the dog hears it more clearly.”

A word from expert dog trainer, Ben Randall
With the rise in fatal dog attacks in the UK, maintaining proper control and communication is paramount. Top dog training expert, Ben Randall, explains that it is now more important than ever to ensure your dog is suitably trained and that all dog owners must take responsibility for the behaviour of their dogs.
“In the pet world, many people don’t have a whistle,” said Randall.
“Some might get one when they first get a puppy and it’s usually something they’ve picked up at a local store. It doesn’t work that well, the dog isn’t very responsive and that’s all because the owner has never been taught how to use it.
“It’s different now with ACME because we’ve also created a range of ‘how to’ videos to teach you how to use the ALPHA for a range of basic commands showcasing how effective it can be.
“It’s a game changer on a walk. The owner has a much better experience, they get an instant response from their dog when they use the whistle correctly.
“The whistle will keep your dog safe and means you don’t have to shout at them. It’s something you need in your training arsenal and you’ll not want to go on a walk without it.
“When you establish the basics you can tweak them so they are specific to you – your own fingerprint of sorts. Your dog will learn to recognise your style and pick you out. They will know it’s a whistle sound meant for them.
“You need to teach the dog at depth and over time, but a well trained dog means you feel less stressed, it keeps the dog relaxed and makes them want to respond to you.”
We have applied more than 135 years of experience as expert whistle manufacturers, along with cutting edge engineering and manufacturing techniques, to create a superior dog training whistle. The sound is more crisp, clear and precise, allowing for more direct communication between a dog and its owner or trainer.
The ACME ALPHA also considers the needs and preferences of the human user, with a completely new rubberised finish which makes these whistles a pleasure to use, even in the wettest conditions. This finish also makes the whistles extremely durable yet soft to the touch. The external engineering also prevents air loss from the whistle body while in use to increase its efficiency.
Internally, the shape of the chamber has been reengineered to “grab” the air more effectively than ever before, concentrating it into pure sound which carries further and remains clear in challenging conditions.

Our reputation rests in the quality of our whistles. To ensure the ACME ALPHA provides superior sound and control, we have tested it in conjunction with dog training experts using a range of dog breeds under different weather conditions and at various distances. All the while, closely observing and monitoring the dogs’ reactions and behaviours.
Randall adds: “Things change over the years and get better. Using the old classic and seeing how my dogs respond and then using the new ALPHA is a different kettle of fish altogether.
“Spaniels are closer range and need a sharp, clean sounding whistle. My dogs really are responding better to the ALPHA.
“If it’s windy, the whistle cuts through the noise and the dogs can still clearly hear it – close up and at long distances. This also makes it suitable for older dogs who may be harder of hearing.
“I’m challenging the dogs at distances I’ve not used a whistle at before. The dogs are going further, into different cover and I’m getting better responses from using the ALPHA.
“Training your dog is a process that requires patience, but over time you will develop a more positive and rewarding relationship with your dog.”
